On July 17, 2014 David Friesen - Circle 3 Trio performed at Christo's.

David Friesen has recorded over 75 CD's as a leader/ co-leader and appeared as a sideman or featured artist on more than 100 recordings. He has performed and/ or recorded with many of the great names and legends of jazz including: Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Sam Rivers, Michael Brecker, Bud Shank, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Freddy Hubbard, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Joe Venuti, Mal Waldron, Jaki Byard, Kenny Drew Sr., Chick Corea, Milt Jackson, Slim Gaillard, John Scofield, Philly Joe Jones, Elvin Jones, Paul Motian, Jack Dejohnette, Airto Moreira, and many others. 

He has performed in concert as a soloist (Friesen is one of two or three bassists in the world that is able to play a solo concert and keep an audience riveted) and with his own groups throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Turkey, Poland, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile, China, Russia, Lithuania and the Ukraine. 


In 1997 he was nominated for the best jazz bassist in the American Jazz Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

In a 2006 jazz bass poll, David Friesen was listed as one of the 20 most influential bass players in the history of jazz. He is also included in a recent poll as one of the 100 Greatest Jazz Bassists of all time.

Friesen was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame at the first induction ceremony Sept. 2007 and the Oregon Jazz Society Hall of Fame May 2012.

Pete Christlieb was on July 31st, 2014:

Christlieb was born in Los Angeles, California and is the son of bassoonist Don Christlieb. Christlieb has worked with many musicians, such as Tom Waits, Louie Bellson, Chet Baker, Woody Herman, Count Basie, Steely Dan, Doc Severinsen, Warne Marsh, The Tonight Show Band starring Johnny Carson, and Bill Holman.

Christlieb played the legendary sax solos on Steely Dan's song Deacon Blues from the album Aja, Natalie Cole's Unforgettable, and the extended tenor sax solo on the song FM from the movie of the same name.

Christlieb currently plays with his recently formed 10-piece group, "Tall and Small Band;" the Bill Holman Orchestra; and his own quartet. This performance will be a quartet featuring Linda Small on trombone, and Portland musicians Tim Gilson on bass, Randy Porter on piano and Todd Strait on drums. 

Also as a side note, if your a jazz lover and a race car fan, for years Pete has been involved in racing Dragsters, with his cars participating in numerous races in the Southwest and across the country. His team has won two national championships for Blown Alcohol Dragsters.

On December 11, 2014 Christo's presented Vibraphone virtuoso Mike Horsfall and the sensational Blueprints Trio showcase their creative take on the holiday classics.

The Blueprint Trio, reminiscent of the late great pianist Bill Evans and his wonderful trio of the 60's, features composer and pianist Matt Tabor, ( newly appointed music director for the new Tony Starlight Club in Portland), bassist Craig Snazelle and drummer and composer Dave Averre. This show features their special guest acclaimed musician Mike Horsfall on vibes.
